My PA Buddy for Chrome
Open the planner less. Send a screenshot, a line you highlighted, a voice note or the page you are on straight into your day — and see what is due without leaving the tab you are in.
What it does
- What you have on. The popup opens on today: what is due, your next meeting, anything waiting for an answer. A number on the toolbar icon tells you without being asked.
- Capture the page. A picture of what you are looking at, kept sharp enough to read back. You can black out anything first, and what you black out never leaves your computer.
- Send what you highlighted. Right-click a selection: send it to your PA, or make a task out of it.
- Say it. Dictate instead of typing. Your browser types out the words, and your PA reads them like any other message.
- Save it for later. One click keeps the page for your PA to ask you about next time, and spends nothing.
- Who it is for. Tag anything you send to a client or a company from your contact book, or keep the company whose page you are on.
Installing it
It is not in the Chrome Web Store yet, so it goes on by hand. It takes a minute, and it works in Chrome and Edge.
- Download the extension (version 0.1.0) — you will be asked to sign in first — and unzip it somewhere you will not delete by accident.
- Open
chrome://extensionsand switch on Developer mode, top right. - Click Load unpacked and pick the folder you just unzipped.
- Click the new icon, then Connect it. Your planner opens, you click once, and it is paired — no password is ever typed into the extension.
Because it is not from the store yet, Chrome will not update it for you. When there is a new version, download it again and press Reload on chrome://extensions.
The download asks you to sign in. That is deliberate while it still goes on by hand: an unsigned file on an open address, with instructions to switch off one of the browser’s own protections, is exactly the thing somebody else would copy and put our name on. Once it is in the Chrome Web Store it will be signed, and two clicks.
What it can and cannot reach
- It can put things in your planner and read your day. That is the whole of it.
- It cannot change your account, your password or your keys.
- It reads a page only when you ask it to — a capture, a selection you right-clicked, or the “add this as a contact” button. Nothing is collected in the background, and it never watches what you browse.
- The key it uses lives in your browser and is never handed to a web page. Turn it off any time from the extension’s settings, or in your planner under More → Account → Assistant and API keys.
- Dictation uses your browser’s own speech recognition, which means Chrome sends the sound to Google to turn it into words. The recording itself is not kept unless you switch that on.
