The browser extension: send anything from any tab

Opening your planner to jot down one thing is the bit nobody keeps up. The extension puts your PA in the corner of whatever you are already looking at: a screenshot of an email, a line off a web page, something you say out loud, or a page to come back to. It also shows what you have on today without you going anywhere.

Putting it on

It is not in the Chrome Web Store yet, so it goes on by hand. It takes a minute, and it works in Chrome and Edge.

1. Download it from http://localhost:3456/extension and unzip it somewhere you will not delete by accident.
2. Open chrome://extensions and switch on Developer mode, top right.
3. Click Load unpacked and pick the folder you unzipped.
4. Click the new icon, then Connect it. Your planner opens in a tab, you click once, and it is paired.

You never type a password or a key into the extension. The pairing happens on your own planner page, where you are already signed in, and the key is handed straight across.

Because it is not from the store yet, Chrome will not update it for you. When there is a new version, download it again and press Reload on chrome://extensions.

What you can do with it

• See your day. The popup opens on what is due, your next meeting, and anything waiting for an answer. The number on the icon tells you without being asked.
• Capture the page. A picture of what you are looking at. Before it goes you can drag a black box over anything you would rather not keep — another tab, someone's details — and what you black out never leaves your computer.
• Send what you highlighted. Right-click a selection: send it to your PA, or make a task from it.
• Say it. Press Speak and talk. Your browser types out the words and your PA reads them like any other message. Chrome does the listening, which means it sends the sound to Google to turn into words; the recording itself is not kept unless you switch that on in the extension's settings.
• Save it for later. One click keeps the page for your PA to ask you about next time you talk.
• Say who it is for. Tag anything to a client or a company from your contact book, or keep the company whose page you are on as a new contact.

What it costs

Your PA reading a screenshot or a message uses a little of your AI allowance. Save for later and the daily check use none — they only keep things and read your own records. The extension says which is which on the button.

If you lose the laptop

The extension holds one key. Turn it off from the extension's own settings, or from your planner under More → Account → Assistant and API keys, and it stops working everywhere at once. It can only put things in your planner and read your day: it cannot change your account, your password or your other keys, and it reads a page only when you ask it to.

If something will not send

It keeps what you sent and tries again on its own — on a train, on bad hotel wifi, or with the laptop shut. The popup says how many things are waiting. Nothing gets filed twice when it does go through, however many times it tried.
